CFP team member Abigail Humphreys has published a paper entitled Changes in contraceptive method mix following the Colorado Family Planning Initiative in the journal Contraception. CFPI is often described as a “LARC (long-acting reversible contraceptive) intervention,” although its increased funding for Title X family planning clinics actually increased access to all types of contraception. This paper, coauthored by Amanda Stevenson and Sara Yeatman, is the first to describe the change in contraceptive methods use patterns by Title X clinic patients during the CFPI program period. It establishes that LARC usage did increase during this time period, although oral contraceptives remained the most common method. This paper was part of Abby’s dissertation work in Health Economics at CU Denver, which she defended in May. We are excited to share that Abby will be joining the Milken Institute, a think tank in Santa Monica, California, as a senior research associate. Congratulations, Abby!
