Teen Health Survey

The Teen Health Survey at the University of Colorado seeks to learn more about teen health and well-being and how to help promote behaviors that may improve your health.

As part of this survey, we ask students about their emotions, mental health, drug use, and other behaviors.

CU Boulder Teen Health Survey FAQs

Who has approved this survey?

Your school has agreed to participate and supports this independent evaluation. This project has been approved by the school district, the University of Colorado Boulder Institutional Review Board (CU IRB), and the Colorado Multiple Institutional Review Board (COMIRB).

Who is running the survey?

The University of Colorado Boulder and University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus are working together to administer the online student survey in schools. The Principal Investigators of the study are  Christine Steeger and Karl G. Hill. They can be reached at TeenHealthStudy@Colorado.edu.

Who can see survey answers?

Student personal answers will not be shown to anyone at the school, in their family, or in the community. The answers students give will be kept confidential in a safe database at the University of Colorado. Only members of the research team will have access to the secure website. Even in the secure database, your answers will never be connected to your name.

Why does the survey ask for contact information?

Student names will not be connected with their answers. We only ask students for their name and contact information at the beginning of the survey in case they move out of the school and we need to contact them to complete another survey.

What is done with survey responses?

We will combine  responses from all students as a whole to understand what is happening with teens in high school more broadly.
