Brief Biography

Elizabeth Weltman is a doctoral student at the CU Boulder Department of Sociology and IBS Prevention Science Program. She works with Professor David Pyrooz on a project (funded by the U.S Department of Justice) to evaluate the efficacy of the Gang Reduction Initiative of Denver (GRID) program, which aims to help troubled youth and adults in Denver disengage from gangs. She also researches other topics: the use of outreach workers as a gang intervention policy; fear of mass shootings among college students; street code endorsement and violent victimization among women; and masculinity among gang members. She earned a M.A. in Sociology at CU Boulder in 2020.
