Social Determinants of Health
Professor Jason Boardman received his PhD in Sociology from the University of Texas, Austin in 2002. He has been at the University of Colorado Boulder, Department of Sociology, and Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS) since that time. He is currently the Director of the Health & Society Program in IBS and the co-Director of the Development Core of the University of Colorado Population Center (CUPC). His work integrates research from sociology, epidemiology, demography, and statistical genetics to examine the social determinants of health. He co-hosts (with Jason Fletcher, University of Wisconsin) the annual NIH/NIA supported conference entitled Integrating Genetics and the Social Sciences (IGSS) that brings together leaders from the social and biological sciences to discuss current methods, theory, and findings in their respective fields to find new answers to a research question in common across the groups.
