Advocating for Social Science

The Consortium of Social Science Organizations (COSSA) is a US-based organization that advocates for the social and behavioral sciences in Washington DC. One of the many initiatives they organize is an annual Social Science Advocacy Day, where social scientists from across the US meet with their elected representatives in Washington to make the case for supporting social and behavioral science research. This year’s event was held on March 29. The University of Colorado Boulder and Institute of Behavioral Science are both members of COSSA, and the delegation we “sent to Washington”, virtually, consisted of four faculty associated with IBS, including CCSA director Scott Ortman. Over the course of the day, the group met with staffers in the offices of both Colorado US senators and two Colorado representatives in the US House.
