The Center for Resilience + Well-Being is a resource center within the Prevention Science Program at the Institute of Behavioral Science (IBS).
Strengthening Families Community Liaison and Facilitator, Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN)
Damary Yanes (ella/she) is the Strengthening Families Community Liaison and Facilitator at Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence (SPAN). She collaborates with the Center for Resilience + Well-Being on a project funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, called The Community Collective for Youth and Family Resilience and Violence Prevention (Strategies to Support Children Exposed to Violence)).
In this role, Damary offers the Let’s Connect® program to caregivers from SPAN. She leverages her expertise to strengthen families and support caregivers. As a native Spanish speaker, she facilitates the Let’s Connect and Caregiver Support Group within the Family Resilience program, integrating her knowledge of family health and community needs to empower those she serves. Additionally, she facilitates community sessions to further support and educate families.
Damary firmly believes that parents and caregivers must receive support before they can effectively support their families. Through this partnership, she has been trained in the Let’s Connect® program as well as in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Alternatives for Families: A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Damary Yanes is a family physician who graduated from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras. She has a strong background in healthcare and community support.
Her hobbies include camping and hiking with her family!
