Stephen Hydon

RISE Secondary Traumatic Stress and Cultural Responsivity Collaborator

Stephen Hydon, Ed.D., M.S.W., is the Director, Social Work in Schools Program and Professor of Field Education at University of Southern California, Suzanne Dworak – Peck School of Social Work. He currently serves as President of the American Council on School Work, Co-Chair of the California Association of School Social Work Educators, and a member of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing Board of Institutional Reviewers. Dr. Hydon has served on numerous grants, authored multiple peer reviewed articles, and has presented nationally and internationally on secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, resiliency, and wellness where he has also been a consultant on these topics to the U.S. Department of Education, Westat Comprehensive Center, the University of Colorado Center for Resilience and Wellbeing in Schools and the University of Connecticut Health Center. Recently Hydon was appointed to the NCTSN’s National Steering Committee and USC’s campus wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
